2nd Highest Stance in Iran for University of Kashan – Times Higher Education Ranking
Vice-chancellor for Education and Research of University of Kashan, Dr. Majid Monem Zadeh, stated that University of Kashan achieved the national highest rank on Times Higher Education Ranking in 2019 among the comprehensive universities. Furthermore, University of Kashan is ranked 501-600 among the world universities.
29 universities from Iran and 1,258 from world universities participated in the ranking in which University of Kashan managed to be the second among the Iranians and 501-600 globally.
Times Higher Education (THE) is among the most famous ranking systems that is specifically focused on news and issues related to higher education. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching (the learning environment), Research (volume, income and reputation), Citations (research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research), Industry income (knowledge transfer).
The indicators of this ranking system are the following:
Education: University reputation (questionnaires are filled by the experts of different subject areas regarding the reputation of the institute), Academic members to students’ ratio, PhD to undergraduate students’ ratio, PhD graduates to Academic members’ ratio, and University income.
Research: University Research Reputation (questionnaires are filled by the experts of different subject areas regarding the research reputation of the institute), Research Productivity (number of papers published and cited by the institute in journals of Scopus), and Research Income (the institute research income for each academic member)
Citations (number of citations university publications has received from Scopus).
International Aspect: International to national students’ ratio, International academic staff to local academic staff ratio, and International cooperation (number of papers publish in co-authorship with other researchers of the world.
Industrial income (this is calculated through the ratio of university’s industrial income to its academic members.
