University of Kashan Launches the Next Phase of it’s Partnership with Leading Chinese Conglomerates for Solar Energy Technology Development and Implementation on a National and Regional level

Based on the efforts and planning of the Energy Research Institute and International Scientific Cooperation Office of University of Kashan, a delegation of 5 senior faculty members from the University of Kashan along with the director of Development Council of the university were dispatched to China on an academic and exploratory visit.

Dr. Mohammad Nazififard, faculty member of Energy Research Institute, stated that the visits and meetings in China were targeted to leading Chinese holding companies that were pioneers of photovoltaic technology and with cutting edg emanufacturing techonlogy of solar power plant equipment. He added: the development of photovoltaic technologies in Iran can be realized through endogenous development, based on the growing capabilities of the universities, advanced research centers, and the active cooperation of early adaptors of this technology in knowledge based companies of Iran. Dr. Nazififard also pointed out the tremendous advantage Iran has in the field of Solar PV energy potentials due to the ideal irradiation and climatic conditions that Iran enjoys, placing it in amongst the top locations in the world for PV power generation, along with the California high deserts and Nepal and he added that the entire materials for production of Solar panels are available locally and with the proper technology development the entire production cycle can be done with a very high quality in Iran.

Dr. Nazififard also noted that this scientific and exploratory visit, targeted the largest company in the world manufacturing the entire chain of solar panels, from wafer to glass, using core technology developed in house over several decades. This company has the capacity to produce over one gigawatt of monocrystalline solar panels annually using proprietary equipment that they have developed and customized for the highest quality and efficiency in the production of solar panels. This is the model that combined with Iran’s natural potentials could truly lead the path to SOLAR IRAN as a major power and contributor to the globall renewable and sustainable energy sector.

The delegation from University of Kashan successfully negotiated for conducting joint research and development with the Chinese Conglomerates and to expand the existing relationships established over the years with the affiliated companies in the holding group. Additionally visiting researchers from University of Kashan will be able to visit the company’s facilities including manufacturing crystalline silicon cells and multi-connectivity technology in cooperation with the research and development sections of the above-mentioned agreements.

It is note worthy that due to the rapidly growing market in Iran and the support of the government for renewable energies, localization and commercialization of technologies to allow for solar equipment production education of creative and knowledgeable experts for research anddevelopmentare of great importance and priority for the proper growth of this valuable technology in Iran.
