University of Kashan Rises in Industry and International Outlook Indices in THE Asia University Rankings 2026
The Vice President for Research and Scientific Communications at the University of Kashan announced that the university has achieved significant upward mobility in the "Industry" and "International Outlook" indices within the THE Asia University Rankings 2026, compared to the 2025 results.
Dr. Hossein Khorasanzadeh explained that while the methodological framework of this ranking aligns with the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, the indicators are specifically recalibrated and reweighted to suit the Asian higher education landscape. The ranking evaluates institutions across five primary pillars: Research Quality (30%), Research Environment (28%), Teaching (24.5%), Industry (10%), and International Outlook (7.5%), based on 17 quantitative metrics.
Dr. Khorasanzadeh noted that the 2026 edition saw an increase in the number of participating Asian universities, with a higher representation of Iranian institutions. Out of 929 participating universities, 90 are from Iran, including 43 comprehensive universities.
Regarding the University of Kashan's performance, Dr. Khorasanzadeh stated that among the 90 Iranian universities, Kashan ranked 39th, and among the 43 comprehensive universities, it secured the 10th position—outperforming many large comprehensive universities located in provincial capitals.
Breaking down the specific metrics, the Vice President reported that in terms of Research Quality, the university ranked 16th nationally and 6th among comprehensive universities. In the Teaching (Learning Environment) index, it ranked 82nd nationally and 37th among comprehensive universities. However, in the Research Environment category, despite a 0.3 increase in score, the university experienced a slight decline in ranking, placing 27th nationally and 13th among comprehensive institutions.
