As part of the beautification efforts of the university, enhancement of the visual quality of educational spaces, and optimized water resource management, Technical and Civil Projects Office of the University of Kashan has completed the landscaping project at the entrance of the Engineering Building.

The Director of Technical and Civil Projects at the University of Kashan stated that this area was selected as a pilot project due to the drying and loss of significant portions of natural grass, following the Civil Council of the university mandate to gradually eliminate natural lawns and replace them with low-water-consumption covers.

Dr. Zahra Jamshidzadeh noted that in this project, natural grass—which required constant irrigation and high maintenance costs—was replaced with a combination of artificial turf, decorative boulders, and colored gravel. She added that the use of curved designs, color-coded materials, and organized green spaces has provided a modern, orderly, and eye-catching appearance to the entrance area.

The Director detailed the project's execution, which included: stone masonry for garden bordering, subgrade preparation using lime-stabilized soil, foundation work and plastering, the removal of remaining grass in favor of high-density UV-resistant artificial turf, and the integration of colored gravel and decorative materials to align the visual landscape with the building's architecture.

Dr. Jamshidzadeh highlighted several key benefits: over 80% savings in landscaping water consumption, a significant reduction in maintenance costs, the elimination of mowing and constant irrigation needs, the preservation of environmental aesthetics throughout all seasons, and increased durability. She concluded that this project serves as a successful model for water-efficient and sustainable landscaping, which can be implemented across other educational and administrative spaces within the university.
