First Meeting of the Student Specialized Council at the University of Kashan

The first meeting of the Student Specialized Council was held on Sunday, 15 February, in the presence of the President of the University.

The session commenced with opening remarks by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Sattar, who addressed the significance of establishing the Council. Subsequently, Dr. Zohreh Gharaei introduced the members and the Council’s composition and outlined its responsibilities.

Dr. Soltani, President of the University, emphasized the necessity of forming the Council and the importance of engaging stakeholders—particularly students—in its meetings. He also elaborated on the considerations the University has faced in decision-making regarding the continuation of academic activities, underscoring the institution’s commitment to in-person education and identifying it as a strategic priority.

Dr. Soltani further highlighted the need to create appropriate conditions for the resumption of face-to-face instruction and proposed several measures in this regard. He pointed to the activation and continuity of open student discussion forums, with participation from students holding diverse perspectives, as a key initiative that should be prioritized in order to provide a secure platform for students’ voices to be heard. In his view, organizing open discussion sessions with active student participation would not only distinguish student protests from street demonstrations but could also facilitate the full return to in-person education for all students.

During the meeting, student representatives presented a number of concerns affecting the student body, which were subsequently discussed and reviewed by the Council members.

Decisions were also made regarding rent reductions for undergraduate dormitory residents proportional to periods of non-attendance. In addition, arrangements were considered to ensure appropriate meal services for students during the holy month of Ramadan.

It is noteworthy that the Student Specialized Council, recently established at the University of Kashan in line with the Ministry’s directive, comprises the following members: the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs; the representative of the Supreme Leader’s Office; the Secretary of the Council Secretariat; the Director of Student Affairs; the Cultural Affairs Director; representatives of the specialized councils for education, research, and culture; the Head of the Counseling Center; the Director of Affairs for Veterans and Martyrs; student representatives; the Head of Dormitory Affairs; the Director of Physical Education; and the Head of Nutrition Services
