Ceremony Marking Research and Technology Week and Honoring Distinguished Faculty and Outstanding Research and Academic Students
A ceremony marking Research and Technology Week and honoring distinguished and exemplary research faculty members, as well as outstanding research, academic, and Olympiad students, was held at the University of Kashan.
At the ceremony, the Vice President for Research and Scientific Communications of the University of Kashan expressed appreciation for the research achievements and activities of the university’s faculty members and students, stating that the number of scientific articles published by researchers of the university and indexed in the Scopus database has reached nearly 10,000, while those indexed in ISI have exceeded 9,000. He added that based on the Hirsch index (h-index), which measures the impact and utilization of research outputs in terms of citations, the University of Kashan has achieved a very strong score of 165 and continues to improve in this regard.
Dr. Khorasani Zadeh referred to the presence of seven researchers from the University of Kashan among the world’s top one percent, according to the 2025 report of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), and added that 30 researchers from the university have also been ranked among the top two percent of scientists worldwide this year.
He pointed to the University of Kashan’s rise by eight positions in the ISC national university rankings and by two positions among comprehensive universities, noting that in the Leiden Ranking as well, in terms of scientific influence and scientific diplomacy, the University of Kashan has advanced to 31st place nationally in 2025.
The Vice President for Research stated that in the 2025 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings, the University of Kashan has ranked eighth among comprehensive universities and 26th nationally, and that in the Times subject rankings it has achieved third place nationally in research quality.
Dr. Khorasani Zadeh also highlighted the growth in industry–university contracts, noting that in the Iranian year 1404 to date, the University of Kashan has signed 52 demand-driven and needs-based projects with industry and other institutions, with a total value exceeding 43 billion tomans.
He further noted that the Central Laboratory of the University of Kashan has been upgraded this year from a “capable” level to an “excellent” status within the national laboratory network. Among 297 laboratories under the Ministry of Science, it now ranks seventh nationwide and third in Isfahan Province.
Dr. Khorasani Zadeh added that through a series of new measures implemented over the past year, the university’s Central Library has seen a significant increase in visits by faculty members and students and in the use of library resources and facilities. In this regard, more than 1,000 new books have been purchased and updated on the library website, and an online system has been established for the continuous, targeted ordering and acquisition of books based on requests from faculty members and graduate students. He stated that by the end of 1405, a digital library with more than 500,000 digital books will be launched.
He emphasized that another recent initiative has been the organization of exhibitions showcasing new publications of the university press and newly acquired resources, programs introducing new works, book review sessions, and workshops to familiarize faculty members and students with library services, including access to scientific resources. He added that the university press has also been strengthened to support the publication of faculty works.
The Vice President for Research and Scientific Communications also referred to the establishment of a new management unit in the research domain titled “Research Planning and Career Guidance,” stating that among the objectives of this unit are to guide and organize the types of research conducted by faculty members and to make better and more effective use of faculty laboratory and research facilities and equipment.
Dr. Khorasani Zadeh further noted that the organization of skill-enhancement and career guidance courses for students to facilitate their entry into the job market is being pursued seriously. In this regard, for the first time at the University of Kashan, a job fair was held on 13 and 14 Azar, which was warmly welcomed by industry representatives and students. He also described the expansion of research contracts with industry and other scientific and research institutions, aimed at the optimal utilization of the university’s laboratory equipment and facilities to address societal and industrial needs, as another key research program of the university. Expressing hope, he said that with further growth in research activities, the practical application of research, and closer ties with industry and society, the university’s standing will be enhanced while contributing to solving industrial and social problems.
The ceremony also featured a specialized panel on “Artificial Intelligence and Research,” moderated by Dr. Saeid Soltani Mohammadi, Director of Research at the University of Kashan, with presentations by Dr. Mehdi Vahidi Pour, Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Javad Salimi, Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence, and Dr. Farzaneh Dehghani, Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Kashan.
