Thirty Researchers from the University of Kashan Ranked Among the World’s Top Two Percent of Most-Cited Scientists

The Vice President for Research and Academic Relations at the University of Kashan announced that 30 researchers affiliated with the University of Kashan have been listed among the top two percent of the world’s most-cited scientists in 2025.

Dr. Khorasani-Zadeh described this achievement as a sign of the growing academic excellence of the university and added that, according to a joint study conducted by Elsevier and Stanford University—based on data from the Scopus citation database—this list includes leading scientists across both long-term (1960–2024) and short-term (2024) evaluation periods. The University of Kashan is represented on this list by 23 faculty members and 7 alumni.

Referring to scientometric indicators such as the number of publications and citations excluding self-citations, Dr. Khorasani-Zadeh noted that the names of two late professors of the university—the late Dr. Alireza Ashrafi and the late Dr. Javad Safari—also appear on the list, reflecting the enduring impact of their scholarly contributions.

He emphasized that the Faculties of Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering have played the most prominent roles in this success, adding that this accomplishment provides both an opportunity to enhance the academic standing of the university and a model for the development of other faculties.

In conclusion, the Vice President for Research of the University of Kashan expressed hope that through continued support for researchers and the expansion of international collaborations, the University will continue to advance its position in the global academic community.
